These values are at the heart of the operation of La Maison des Femmes de Québec and contribute to its warm atmosphere. Each woman and each child have a full and equal place here, without exception. Thanks to the support of our helpers who are available at all times, we believe that despite the different backgrounds of the women sheltered, they will be able to create and experience a solidarity that is precious for the individual journey of each one.

OUR SERVICES

  • 24/7 telephone listening support*
  • Individual* and/or group intervention
  • Free shelter for any person identifying as a woman, with or without children
  • Psychosocial support for the children staying at the shelter
  • Support in developing protection scenarios
  • Administrative, legal, immigration, etc. support and guidance
  • Consultation services for close relatives and professionals
  • Post-shelter follow-up
  • Training and awareness on domestic violence for groups, organizations and businesses*.

*These services are offered even if you are not staying at La Maison.

At La Maison des Femmes we highlight a feminist approach that consists of:

  • Listening to and believing women’s voices
  • Enabling women to regain control over their lives
  • Intervening without judgment
  • Respecting the differences (origins, beliefs, values, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) and the pace of each one
  • Valuing women’s potential and assertiveness
  • Support and help women in their procedures
  • Defend the collective rights of women.

OUR SHELTER SERVICE

For all shelter accommodation requests, contact us at 418-522-0042.

  • Note that this is a temporary accommodation (depending on your needs and procedures).
  • During your stay:
    • You will be able to go about your usual activities (work, studies)
    • You will not be able to receive visitors
    • You will not communicate the address of La Maison to your relatives or to the people in charge of your file
    • You will be able to receive your mail at La Maison mailbox
    • You will have access to a telephone line and a fax machine.
  • Rooms are single or family occupancy and are not shared.
  • Pets are not accepted.
  • Mothers may be accommodated with their children up to age 17.

WHAT TO BRING

The following is a list of items you should bring with you when you leave your home. If necessary, remember that you will be able to return under police escort.

  • Important personal documents (and those of your children): birth certificate, passport, social insurance card, marriage contract, will, health insurance card, driver’s license, registration certificate, proof of insurance, house lease or purchase contract, and health record.
  • Cash, credit card and debit card
  • Clothing and other personal belongings
  • Medication
  • House and car keys
